DTH A drill bit uses a rotating drill bit to cut rock, breaking it into cuttings and expelling them through the drill hole. Its operating principle primarily includes the following:
Connection to the DTH hammer: Attached to the base of the DTH hammer, the hammer directly delivers impact energy to the drill bit.
1. Impact Energy Transfer: Compressed air drives the piston within the hammer, which repeatedly strikes the drill bit shank, transmitting high-frequency impact force directly to the rock.
2. Rock Cutting and Fracturing: The drill rig rotates the drill string, causing the drill bit to rotate slowly. This ensures that the tungsten carbide teeth on the drill bit surface evenly crush the rock.
Rock Expulsion and Conveying: Compressed air flows through the air holes in the hammer and drill bit. The high-pressure air then carries the cuttings and dust out of the hole.
In short, the drill bit works by receiving the impact force from the hammer, rotating to distribute the cutting force, and using compressed air to flush out the cuttings, resulting in fast, straight, and efficient drilling.
